The first Annual Charity Ball – 20th February 2016
Jenny Wallwork is pleased to announce that the first Annual Charity Ball promoting the awareness of eating disorders in young people was a magical success. Hundreds of people including leading elite athletes attended the Leeds Hilton Hotel to show their support. The Foundation was created in 2015 by Jenny Wallwork, professional badminton player and long term suffer of an eating disorder, will be delivering a range of events throughout 2016.
Jenny said that it is vital that people understand the long term effects of eating disorders with 1.6 million known people affected when the figure is more likely to be nearer 4 million. “I was able to access the support and care I needed and I’m determined to ensure all young people can access that same level of support”
The Wallwork Foundation aims to provide a credible and independent voice to raise awareness of the impact of eating disorders and to ensure that they receive the right treatment at the right time.
Wil Woan, Managing Director of the Foundation said, “It’s massively important that we continue to tackle the pressures of young people around body image and the stigma around eating disorders. We at the Foundation will fight tirelessly with other partners in the sector to bring about a step change in the diagnosis, treatment and care of young people with eating disorders’
The Wallwork Foundation is fully committed to Eating Disorder Awareness Week and will be supporting media campaigns across the UK.
